Destined 2 Dance Studio and Performing Arts is a non-profit organization which was founded by Rachel Jackson and Aderemi Rucker on November 1, 2003. Having danced together for over 10 years as praise dance duo Pirouettes of Praise, Rachel and Remi received many inquiries about classes after ministering in dance at church services and events. These inquiries encouraged them to establish a dance school where others could learn various dance techniques from a Christian perspective. Thus, the birth of Destined 2 Dance.
Our Purpose
The purpose for establishing a dance school such as this was to bring inspiration and light as well as structure and discipline to the surrounding community in a fun and jovial manner. Destined 2 Dance is a performing arts school designed to be a refuge where one can find relaxation for the mind, strength for the body, and healing for the soul. Destined 2 Dance Studio is committed to promoting and preserving the arts while educating through the vehicle of dance. We are dedicated to insuring that the children, youth, and adults of the Bay Area have a positive environment to learn various styles of dance including ballet, jazz, praise dance, modern and hip-hop. We believe that dancing builds self-esteem on and off the stage. At Destined 2 Dance, we not only teach our students dance technique, we are equipping them with practical skills to implement in their daily lives such as presentation, posture, poise and improvisation.
Destined 2 Dance does not discriminate on the basis of economic status, height, weight, gender, race, national origin, creed, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability, or age. The organization seeks to present equal opportunities for all individuals interested in learning the art and discipline of dance.
Our History
In April of 1994, Rachel Jackson and Remi Rucker formed the praise dance team which is now known as Pirouettes of Praise. These two young ladies began praising God through dance at Faith Presbyterian Church in Oakland, California. Since that time, Remi has joined Glad Tidings C.O.G.I.C. in Hayward and the two continue to minister together as a team.
Pirouettes of Praise is comprised of two sisters in Christ who love the Lord and desire to serve Him through the ministry of dance. For Rachel and Remi, praise dance is more than just an art form that is aesthetically pleasing, it is true worship. The focus of this ministry is to bring glory to God while allowing their bodies to be used by God to minister to others through liturgical dance.
The dance ministry of Pirouettes of Praise solicits your continued prayers and support. If you would like Pirouettes of Praise to come and minister at your church service or event, please contact our events manager via e-mail at events@destined2dance.com.
